Biden Won’t Release Senate Records Over Fear it Will Damage Campaign

On Friday, Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden told MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski that he would not release his Senate records at the University of Delaware because he is concerned that it would damage his presidential campaign.

“The first is about your University of Delaware records, do you agree the reporting that those records were supposed to be revealed to the public and then they were resealed for a longer period of time until after you ‘leave public life,'” Brzezinski said. “And if you agree with that, if that’s what happened, why did that happen?” Read more…

Unemployment Tops 30 Million as Coronavirus Crisis Crests

More than 3.8 million Americans filed for unemployment benefits last week, bringing the six-week total of new jobless claims to 30.3 million, the worst employment crisis since the Great Depression.

The news wasn’t all bad. While the number was slightly higher than the 3.5 million economists surveyed by Dow Jones expected, the number was far lower than the record 6.8 million for the week of March 28. The latest number was also lower than the previous week, which came in at 4.4 million. Still, one in six American workers is now unemployed. Read more…

House Reverses Plan, Will Not Return to Washington Next Week

House leaders on Tuesday reversed course on plans to bring the chamber back into session next week amid fears about whether it is safe to return to the Capitol during the coronavirus pandemic.

Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) announced the change in plans after initially saying the day before that the House would return the following Monday, citing discussions with the Capitol physician, who warned that the Washington region has not yet flattened its number of coronavirus cases.

“We will not be meeting next week,” Hoyer told reporters. “The House physician’s view was that there was a risk to members that was one he would not recommend taking.” Read more…

Australia to China: Don’t Push Us on COVID-19, Mate

Okay, okay, fine. If you want to get all nitpicky, COVID-19 isn’t the Chinese virus. It’s merely the latest Chinese virus. Any number of deadly pandemics have emanated from China for thousands of years, and it will keep on happening as long as the Chinese allow it to happen. But you’re not supposed to say that, because China is full of Chinese people and therefore criticizing them is racist. You’re supposed to ignore facts. You mustn’t tell the truth about why you’re out of a job and worried about getting sick and dying. If you do, your moral, ethical, and intellectual betters will call you names, which they will also do for any other reason.

But not everyone is cowed by China. Not our friends down under, certainly. Read more…

Cops Should Enforce the Law, Not the Whims of Politicians

On November 1, 2013, a gunman opened fire in Terminal 3 at Los Angeles International Airport. He was soon confronted and shot by airport police officers, but not before killing a TSA agent and wounding two others and a traveler.

I was still with the LAPD at the time and was among the hundreds of police officers and federal agents who responded to the shooting’s chaotic aftermath. I wrote about the incident two days later, offering my perspective on why the chaos was far worse than it need have been. In short, decisions were made based on inaccurate and speculative reports, this despite the fact that reliable information was readily at hand. Read more…

While Millions Unemployed, AOC Calls for a Strike

Millions of Americans have lost their jobs amid the lockdowns to slow the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. Yet Rep. Alexandria Ocasio–Cortez (D-Grow Yucca in NYC) called on Americans to refuse to return to work when the lockdowns end and America reopens.

“When we talk about this idea of reopening society you know, only in America does the president – when the president tweets about liberation – does he mean ‘go back to work.’ When we have this discussion about going back or reopening, I think a lot of people should just say no – we’re not going back to that,” AOC told Anand Giridharadas in the first episode of his upcoming Vice show. ‘The Evil Called Barack Obama’ and the Slaughter of Nigerian Christians

Not only is Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari behind what several international observers are calling a “genocide” of Christians in his nation-but Barack Hussein Obama played a major role in the Muslim president’s rise to power: these two interconnected accusations are increasingly being made-not by “xenophobic” Americans but Nigerians themselves, including several leaders and officials.

Most recently, Femi Fani-Kayode, Nigeria’s former minister of culture and tourism, wrote in a Facebook post. Read more…
